We no longer post our work to Instagram. This Facebook acquisition owns everything you post to it and in return offers you nothing, oh, apart from that hollow feeling of narcissistic desire. In fact, instagram reserves the rights to your photos as stated in the terms and conditions of use. Instagram claims “non-exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to use their content” which means that instagram can use, sell and licence your photos either for their own use or for any third party.

In return, yes, you do get access to the platform, but, you are not allowed to link to your other platforms or spaces and all advertising and most selling (only top brands get to have their shops on instagram for free) has to be paid for.

This is not good enough as apart from owning your images and so ‘your life’, instagram collects your data and monitors your traffic and will use that to extract even more income from your use. And here is our damning indictment of Instagrams policy on nudity. All we have to say is ‘Nasty!’

So, we are going to continue to post ‘instastyle pics’ but to galleries that we own, that are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License and so controlled by us. We urge you to do the same. Each post will get posted to instagram as a web page ink on a black background, making our instagram account a little boring but hey, all done in the name of freedom!

OUR INSTAGRAM FEED – This is our actual feed on Instagram up to the point that we decided to stop posting our content directly to that platform:
